According to reports, Digitec Galaxus, a large Swiss online retailer, announced that it will accept cryptocurrency payments.
The announcement stated that the platform now accepts BTC, BCH, BSV, ETH, XRP, BNB, LTC, TRX, NEO and OMG for payment. Users can purchase 2.7 million items on the platform, including wheat beer and gaming PCs.
The payment method is reportedly powered by Swiss payment service provider Datatrans and Danish crypto payment startup Coinify. When the user selects "crypto payment", the website will jump to Coinify's payment website, and Coinify will charge the user a 1.5% conversion fee.
Oliver Herren, co-founder and chief innovation officer of Digitec Galaxus, believes that encrypted digital currencies may become the standard payment method for online shopping, and Galaxus hopes to be a leading company in this revolutionary wave.
According to data released by ecommerce data platform ecommerceDB, Digitec Galaxus' total net sales exceeded 261 million in 2018. This online retail platform, which was launched in 2010, ranked 341st in the world.
Other large retailers are also considering accepting cryptocurrency payments. It is understood that Overstock has accepted Bitcoin payments as early as 2014.
In April last year, Canadian online trading and bartering platform Bunz Trading Zone said it was launching its own cryptocurrency.
In addition, Rakuten, Japan's largest e-commerce company, announced in February last year that it planned to launch an encrypted digital currency called Rakuten Coin.
